Frequently Asked Questions
Let's Redefine Your Relationship With Food!
How Do I Start?
All my clients start with a 75-90 minute comprehensive initial evaluation to better understand their individual needs. The first session includes:
- understanding your history;
- looking at your current lab work (if any);
- discussing your goals;
- creating a plan together.
By the end of the evaluation, you will receive a personalized care plan and recommendations. We will also decide on how much support is needed and schedule our next session.
What is the difference between disordered eating and eating disorders?
Eating disorders and disordered eating share many of the same characteristics. These include: obsessing over your size/body weight, dieting all the time and/or eating in secret, hiding food or covering up how little or much you have eaten.
Eating disorders are diagnosed conditions by a physician or mental health professional. Even though you may not have an eating disorder diagnosis, disordered eating behaviors can have a significant impact on your health.
Suanne helps with:
- Anorexia Nervosa;
- Bulimia Nervosa;
- Binge Eating Disorder (BED);
- Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID);
- Orthorexia;
- Other Eating Disorders;
- Chronic Dieting;
- Poor relationship with food and body image.
Will you work with me if I don't have a diagnosed eating disorder?
Yes, Suanne works with anyone who wants to improve their relationship with food. She uses intuitive/mindful eating techniques, Health At Every Size principles and her background in nutrition and coaching to help get you on the road to recovery.
Do you work with weight loss?
My practice is weight neutral, which means we will not engage in conversation about restrictive diets, make recommendations for weight loss as a solution to physical health issues or encourage any negative body talk.
What are some of the digestive issues you work with?
- Acid reflux/GERD;
- Gas, Burping, and Bloating;
- Constipation/Diarrhea;
- Food allergies and Intolerances;
- SIBO;
- IBS/IBD;
- Ulcers.
Will you work with my doctor, counselor, social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist or other care provider?
Yes. Suanne believes that quality care includes clear communication with other professionals on your treatment team.
Will my health insurance cover nutrition sessions?
Most health insurance plans do cover nutrition counseling, either as treatment of a health problem or as part of your preventative health benefits. Restore Wellness is currently in-network with Premera Blue Cross/Blue Shield. We do not check insurance benefits on your behalf, so it is your responsibility to verify what your plan does or does not cover, and what your portion of the cost will be.

Do you work with people who are out of Alaska?
Yes! We offer virtual appointments (also called telehealth) where we meet online for a video call. Most insurance companies accept these types of visits for clients in Alaska.
If you live outside of Alaska, please contact us prior to scheduling your appointment to determine if we can work with you. Some states allow it, and some do not. Please contact your insurance company as well to verify you have telehealth benefits.
